One of the criminals of the Quemados Case remains a fugitive

The former colonel, Iván Figueroa, sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of Rodrigo Rojas de Negri and the frustrated murder of Carmen Gloria Quintana, fled after the sentence was announced. The police are being demanded to be activated to find this criminal.

“The century”. Santiago. 2/20/2024. At the beginning of January, the Supreme Court handed down a final sentence for the murderers of Rodrigo Rojas de Negri and those guilty of the attempted murder of Carmen Gloria Quintana. Both young men were burned alive by members of the Army in 1986.

Rodrigo’s mother, Verónica De Negri, foresaw that they could flee the country and this is what happened with the former colonel, Iván Figueroa Canobras, who after being convicted of these crimes, is a fugitive from Chilean justice.

On social networks, from the Memory Space, London38, it was indicated that “today we add a new criminal from the dictatorship to our list of fugitives, which is already at 15.”

And it was reported: “Iván Figueroa Canobras, author of the qualified homicide of Rodrigo Rojas de Negri and frustrated homicide of Carmen Gloria Quintana. “Burn case.” This subject was sentenced to 20 years in prison and fled.

“Who protects and covers it up”? It is a question that human rights organizations ask themselves. Regarding the case, the Army has not issued any information.

In interview with ElSiglo.cl Last January, Rodrigo’s mother, Verónica De Negri, warned that, faced with the sentencing of former soldiers, “it has already happened that the convicted have escaped, even though they have a arraignment order and their home is under surveillance.” This is what is happening today with former colonel Figueroa.
