Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) disease, commonly known as tick bite, has increased with the increase in temperatures. Three consecutive fatal cases occurred as a result of tick bites in Sivas.

Ş.T., who became ill after a while, was taken to Sivas Cumhuriyet University Health Services Application and Research Hospital. Ş.T., who was treated in the anesthesia intensive care unit with suspicion of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) disease, could not be saved despite the intervention.

On June 6, 25-year-old Afghan national Gülbidin Ekberi, a shepherd in the Eşkli village of Gemerek district, died in the hospital where he was taken after a tick stuck to his body. Akbari’s body was handed over to his relatives and taken to Afghanistan.
MOST CASES ARE PERSONS ENGAGED IN AGRICULTURE
The provinces where the disease is most prevalent are Sivas, Tokat, Çorum and Yozgat, and the recently increasing tick population and cases in these provinces have reached alarming levels. The majority of cases occur in people engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry.

Experts recommend that 70-80 percent of ticks come from the legs to the body, so they should be placed inside the socks of the trousers. It is necessary to wear long-sleeved clothes, light-coloured clothes, especially white, and the animals returning to the barn must be checked and if there are ticks on them, they must be eliminated with medication. In case of a tick bite, it is vital to consult the nearest health institution without delay.
