One person has died in the last 24 hours due to dengue infection across the country. With this, the number of dengue deaths this year has reached 21. During this time, 14 dengue patients were admitted to the hospital. On the other hand, 101 people are currently under treatment in various public and private hospitals of the country including Dhaka.
On Wednesday (March 20), the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room in charge of the Department of Health said. This information was reported in the regular report on dengue signed by Zahidul Islam.
According to the Department of Health, six of the 14 people who were hospitalized with dengue from Tuesday (March 19) to Wednesday 8 am were residents of Dhaka and eight outside Dhaka. On the other hand, one person who died in the last 24 hours is a resident of Dhaka North.
From January 1 to March 20 this year, 1,599 people have been affected by dengue throughout the country. Among them, 754 people are residents of Dhaka, and 1 lakh 845 people are outside Dhaka. From January 1 to March 20, 1,498 dengue patients were discharged from the hospital.
In 2023, all the records of the country’s 24-year dengue history were broken. From January to December, 3 lakh 21 thousand 179 patients were admitted to different hospitals of the country due to dengue, and 1 thousand 705 people died.
281 people died of dengue in 2022. In December, the last month of that year, 27 people died. At the same time, 62 thousand 382 people were admitted to the hospital due to dengue in the year under discussion.
During the corona epidemic in 2020, dengue infection was not seen much, but in 2021, 28 thousand 429 people were infected with dengue throughout the country. In the same year, 105 people died due to dengue throughout the country.
According to the information of the Department of Health, 281 people died of dengue in 2022, 105 people in 2021, seven people in 2020 and 179 people in 2019.
