An alarming gravity accident shook the national road 2 (RN2) this Tuesday, June 24, 2025 around 5:50 p.m. A semi-trailer, making the connection between Antananarivo and Toamasina, violently left the road to the kilometric point 35+20, precisely in Antampon’i Maharidaza, a rural area of the town of Nandihizana, district of Manjakandriana. The vehicle switched to a ravine of about 300 meters, leaving behind a distressing painting. The human record is heavy. The truck-heater of the truck was killed instantly. His body remained trapped under the mass of the vehicle. Four other people were injured, including the driver. The victims included adults and a two -year -old child, illustrating the diversity of passengers and the brutality of the impact.
From the alert, five gendarmes from the Carion Brigade went to the scene to organize the emergency services. The injured were quickly transported to the basic health center (CSB II) of CARION for emergency care. Three of the injured, requiring more specialized care, were subsequently transferred to the Hospital Joseph Ravoahangy-Andrianavalona (HJRA) in Antananarivo. The first analyzes suggest a double cause to this drama: a major technical failure, in this case the rupture of the steering ball joint, making the truck uncontrollable, and a potentially excessive speed in this road section, however straight. The Carion’s gendarmerie brigade is responsible for the investigation to elucidate the exact circumstances of this tragic accident and determine the responsibilities.
