One court sentenced the rapper to prison, another says “let him be executed.” – 2024-05-30 09:16:32

Iranian rapper Tumaj Salehi, accused of organizing the protests that started in September 2022 and lasted for about 4 months, was sentenced to death.

Publika.az reports that Salehi’s lawyer Amir Raisiyan made a statement to “Shark” newspaper.

He said that the Isfahan Revolutionary Court does not implement the decision of the Supreme Court.

“The 1st Department of Isfahan Revolutionary Court is taking an unprecedented step. He does not execute the verdict issued by the Supreme Court on Tumac Salehi.”

No statement has yet been made by the judicial authorities on the matter.

Actions were held for Salehi, who was sentenced to death on the charge of “creating corruption on earth”. At that time, there was a conflict between the armed forces and the protesters. He was originally sentenced to death for the crime. It was reported that the Iranian singer’s sentence was later commuted to prison for “effective cooperation” with the authorities. Nevertheless, the local court does not want to recognize this decision.
