«Tigran Harutyunyan, a participant of the “Get Started” program, has started researching a startup the ecosystem
17-year-old Tigran has been interested in astronomy since childhood. The starry sky of Syunik, Tigran’s birthplace, and partly the stories of his sister about the universe contributed significantly to this.
About a year ago, Tigran, a high school student of “Mkhitar Sebastatsi” educational complex, participated in a tent camp in the educational center of Arates village, Vayots Dzor marz, and decided to create a small observatory in the local educational center.
The visit to the Byurakan observatory, the opportunity to get to know the work of the 2.6-meter telescope up close, as well as the history of the observatory’s activity became decisive for Tigran.
“I was at the observatory for the first time, I got a lot of new knowledge. I got acquainted with the 2.6-meter telescope and enthusiasm arose to continue my chosen path in Armenia. We have opportunities, and someone should be there to take advantage of those opportunities,” said Tigran.
In order to achieve a goal, not only a desire is needed, but also an appropriate opportunity. Tigran received such an opportunity within the framework of the “Start” educational program, which is implemented by the “Association of Armenian Online Media and Journalists” NGO and Mediamax, with the main partnership of Viva-MTS. The program provides an opportunity to study the experience of leading companies and gain knowledge on establishing a startup.
Within the framework of the first stage of participation in the project, Tigran has already managed to communicate with the managers of various companies and foundations with many years of experience and considerable success in Armenia. In the second phase, workshops are planned, where training will be carried out with mentors. Participants will work in small groups and will be able to present their ideas for discussion to assess the prospects for implementation.
“The program will change my life. It will never be the same again. In case of defeat, I will learn something new based on mistakes. And in case of victory, my school will have a reason to be proud”, said Tigran.
Startup projects developed in workshops and recognized as the best will receive an incentive cash prize. The total prize fund is AMD 1,000,000. Project results will be summarized in the summer.
