According to the prime minister, the Russian attack on Ukraine was a violation of the principles of sovereignty, sovereignty and independence of states. “If Ukraine falls, it’s only a matter of time before someone else is threatened. It makes no sense to pretend that Ukraine will be enough for Putin. We all want peace. And that is why we must not be afraid to stand up to those who threaten the peace,” declared the prime minister.

“If anyone wanted proof of how monstrous the Russian regime is and that it will stop at nothing, just look at how Vladimir Putin liquidates his political opponents,” stated Fiala. A week ago, Alexei Navalny, one of the most famous critics of the Putin regime, died under unclear circumstances in a Russian prison colony beyond the Arctic Circle.

According to Lipavsky, Putin launched a neo-colonial war against Ukraine two years ago. Russian aggression aimed at breaking Ukraine has lasted even longer, ten years, the minister pointed out, pointing to Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014. Ukraine has the right to self-defense and restoration of territorial integrity, including Crimea. The Czech Republic will stand by Ukraine and provide it with all the necessary assistance as long as it is needed, and supports its integration into NATO and the EU for the sake of European security. “Russian efforts to change state borders by force must be repelled in the interest of a free and democratic world,” added Lipavský.
For two long years, Ukraine has been facing a neo-colonial war unleashed by Vladimir Putin. But the fact is that Russian aggression with the aim of breaking Ukraine has lasted even longer – 10 years. For the Czech Republic, we will stand by Ukraine and provide it with all necessary assistance as long as it is needed. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/coMoL4FtHs

Minister of the Interior Vít Rakušan (STAN) also said on the X network today that Czech support for Ukraine must continue. According to Minister of Agriculture Marek Výborny (KDU-ČSL), Putin’s regime is criminal. “Ukraine defends us too! and we must not leave her in it!” he wrote on the X network.
Two years ago we woke up to a new reality. Putin attacked Ukraine. It wasn’t a nightmare, unfortunately the bad dream continues. And our support for the attacked country, for Ukrainians, must also continue. Glory to Ukraine!

The future of Ukraine also determines the future of the Czech Republic. On the occasion of honoring the memory of the victims of Russian aggression against Ukraine, Senate President Miloš Vystrčil (ODS) said this today.
“One of the things they can help with is that they get involved in life in the Czech Republic in all the dimensions that such a life in the Czech Republic brings, and that thus we will support Ukraine together,” he said to the Ukrainians living in the Czech Republic. Long-term support for Ukraine is more demanding for the Czech Republic than help at one given moment, and the cooperation of the Ukrainians is thus crucial, he said.
In addition to Vystrčil, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarová Adamová (TOP 09), chargé d’affaires of the Ukrainian Embassy Vitaly Usaty and several other MPs and senators also took part in the memorial service at the monument to the Ukrainian poet Taras Ševčenko on Náměstí Kinsky in Prague.
Pekarová Adamová recalled thatthe us aggression against Ukraine started at the moment of the Russian invasion of Crimea. “We have Ukrainians to thank for living our daily lives here, which have not been turned upside down like our Ukrainian friends have been,” she said. According to her, the outcome of the conflict in Ukraine will decide peace in the Czech Republic.
Alena Schillerová, vice-president and head of the parliamentary club of the ANO movement, stated on the X network, that she is proud of the support Ukraine receives from the Czech Republic. She believes in an early end to aggression, she added.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine began the year before last on February 24. Two years of war have killed or maimed thousands of Ukrainian civilians and displaced millions of Ukrainians. Both sides are estimated to have lost tens of thousands of soldiers killed and maimed in the fighting.
