That dark May 21 is not erased from Mare’s’s mind, who was his wife, life companion and guardian of his history. Serenity in the face and a firm light in the gaze, he speaks of him as who remembers the greatest love and the most noble artist. Omar was not just her husband, she was the giant who marked a whole generation with songs that told everyday stories with a poetry that only true minstrels knew how to sing.
“God gave him the opportunity to do everything: sing, compose, play, produce … but above all, love. Loving his family, his music, his land,” says Maren, while each word seems to take the weight of a thousand memories and the heat of a love that does not go out with death. “He was the last minstrel, now he is eternal and will continue as a guardian of his musical notes that surround his family, his madness of love,” he said in tears.
