New Delhi (Viswas News). A picture of Jyotish Peeth’s Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati is going viral on social media, and users are sharing it and targeting Shankaracharya. Users are claiming that Shankaracharya had recently gone to offer a chaadar at the shrine.

What is in the viral post?
The Facebook user shared the viral post and wrote, ‘I did not go to Ram Mandir because all the activities against scriptures are happening there, everything was fine here so I came! Jai ho to the Baba of Mazaar.’

investigation
Starting our investigation, we first searched the viral photo through Google Lens. On searching, we found the viral photo uploaded on a Facebook page named Emanch on 17 July 2023. According to the information given here, this photo is from the time when Shankaracharya paid tribute to Swami Arvind’s guru’s samadhi in Delhi. At the same time, the person seen in white clothes in the background of this viral photo is Swami Arvind.
On this basis, we furthered our investigation and found an interview posted on Jyotirmath Shankaracharya’s ex handle on January 16, 2024. Here, in the interview, when Shankaracharya was asked a question related to the claims of offering chadar at Ajmer Sharif, Shankaracharya replied that he has not visited any shrine or dargah. Such a fake claim is being made with the aim of damaging his image. When the movement was going on regarding Ram Setu, a person named Arvind Swami had requested him to come to the ashram in Delhi. There, a replica of the Samadhi of Sant Ramdev Pir was made and worshipped. He went there at the behest of Arvind Swami.
This post has gone viral earlier also and at that time we had contacted Jyotirmath’s media in-charge Sanjay Pandey. Talking about this, he had told that Shankaracharya Ramdev had visited the replica of Peer’s Samadhi. The claim of visiting the Mazar is false.
According to Aaj Tak’s report, “The post of Shankaracharya is considered the highest in Sanatan Dharma. The post of Shankaracharya in India was established by Adi Shankaracharya. Adi Shankaracharya established four monasteries in India. These four monasteries include Jyotirmath of Badrikashram in the north, Shringeri Math in the south, Govardhan Math of Jagannathpuri in the east and Sharada Math of Dwarka in the west. The head of these four monasteries is called Shankaracharya.”
There are four Shankaracharyas in Sanatan Dharma at present. They include three other Shankaracharyas including Jyotishpeethadhiswar Avimukeshwarananda Saraswati, Sharada Peethadhiswar Swami Shri Sadananda Saraswati Ji Maharaj, Govardhana Peethadhiswar Nischalananda Saraswati Ji Maharaj, and Dakshinamnaya Swami Shri Bharatitirtha Ji Maharaj.
Now it was time to do social scanning of the Facebook user who shared the fake post. We found that the user shares ideologically motivated posts.
