MotoGP Broadcasting Rights Holder Dorna Sports and the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) announced the extension of the promotional rights for the MotoGP championship until 2060. Photo/MotoGP
“MotoGP™ broadcasting rights holder Dorna Sports and the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) are pleased to announce the extension of a long-term agreement that guarantees promotional rights for all FIM World Championships organised by Dorna until 2060,” wrote the official statement on the website. MotoGP Thursday (5/9/2024).
Dorna itself first obtained the promotion rights for the FIM Grand Prix World Championship or better known as MotoGP in 1992. Since then, the popularity of the world’s most prestigious motorcycle racing event has continued to increase to various parts of the world.
“The continuation of this successful partnership ensures unrivalled value, sustainability and opportunity for MotoGP™ in a rapidly evolving global sporting landscape,” MotoGP continued.
Therefore, Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta is very proud of the continuation of this long-term cooperation with FIM. He is also determined to continue developing MotoGP in a better direction.
“We are very proud to announce this agreement with the FIM. It is fantastic news for the sport, and our fans around the world, that this partnership is guaranteed to continue,” Ezpeleta explained.
FIM President Jorge Viegas expressed similar sentiments. He considered the agreement to extend the promotion rights with Dorna Sports to be very important for MotoGP.
“This is a very important moment and one that provides clarity and long-term security for the pinnacle of motorcycling. This is not only important for everyone directly involved in MotoGP™, but also for the wider motorcycling community that benefits from the status, value and global presence of this leading series,” Viegas concluded.
