OEE Department of Epirus: Contrary to Hatzidaki’s statements regarding the tax ones

The Local Administration of 6^u of the Regional Department of Epirus of the Economic Chamber of Greece is against the statements of the Minister of Economy Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis and the announcement of the AADE and is in favor of the fair request of the accountants – tax technicians to observe the 4-month period from the start of submitting the tax returns, as was the case and in the past.

The leadership of the Ministry of Finance and the AADE with their public statements insulted the Accountants – Tax Professionals branch.

Despite the serious shortcomings of the system, for which the accountants are not responsible, the decision that no extensions will be given this year is in the wrong direction.

The industry in order to maintain its scientific background needs time to study the new circulars and at the same time time is also needed by the IT companies to integrate all the changes in the accounting programs.

At the same time, with the many problems identified in the initial operation of the system, the period given for the submission of tax returns is minimal and shorter than the period given in previous years.

We therefore suggest a minimum period of 4 months from the full operation of the system for the submission of the declarations and that it be announced in time, so that proper planning can be done by the accountants.

The simplification of tax declarations is a positive step for citizens, but professional support from accountants – tax technicians remains necessary for the correct and complete submission of declarations. A large portion of the 1.3 million tax returns require auditing and the accountant’s input is essential.

Finally, the crucial role of accountants and tax technicians and their continuous contribution to the economic functioning of the country should be recognized, especially in times of economic reforms and crises.
