The NGO speaks of a “critical situation” after the latest attacks against the Tal al Sultan displaced persons camp
MADRID, 29 (EUROPA PRESS)
The NGO Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has assured this Tuesday that the countries that support the operations of the Israeli Army in the Gaza Strip are “morally and politically complicit” in the “massacres” against Palestinian civilians despite having moved to places previously designated as “safe.”
“All countries that support Israel’s military operations in these circumstances are morally and politically complicit. We call on countries, in particular the United States, the United Kingdom and the Member States of the European Union, to do everything in their power. hand to influence Israel to end the ongoing siege and continued attacks against the civilian population and civilian infrastructure in Gaza,” reads a statement from MSF.
The secretary general of the NGO, Chris Lockyear, has assured that Palestinian civilians “are being massacred” in “incessant air and ground attacks” after having been pushed to supposedly safe areas and despite the order issued on May 6 by the the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to stop the offensive on the city of Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip.
In that sense, MSF denounces that the offensive has intensified since then and that “no significant amount of aid” has entered the enclave. “Entire families, consisting of dozens of people, are crammed into tents and living in extremely difficult conditions. More than 900,000 people have been forcibly displaced again since Israeli forces intensified their offensive on Rafah in early May,” he said. added.
ATTACKS AGAINST HEALTH CENTERS
Following this, the NGO explained that both medical staff and patients at its trauma stabilization point in Tal al Sultan were forced to flee on Sunday due to Israeli bombings against tents in the displaced persons camp located there, which It left more than 45 dead, which was followed the next day by another attack against the Al Mawasi camp, where these patients had been transferred.
“Israeli tanks and ground forces have been seen by our Palestinian colleagues inside the patient stabilization center, so we have decided to close it. Thousands and thousands of people are walking along the road that goes towards the beach to flee from the west Rafá,” said MSF medical officer in Gaza, Karin Huster.
The NGO has highlighted that, after almost eight months of war, there is no longer “a single health center with the capacity to deal with an incident with mass casualties like the one on May 26 and 27” after the closure of this last point and after forced evacuation or lack of resources from other centers.
“Israeli shelling and heavy fighting also continue to devastate the north of the enclave, almost inaccessible to humanitarian workers. Hospitals in the north are under fire and have been subject to extensive destruction, including Al Awda and Kamal Adwan hospitals, the latter bombed earlier today by Israeli forces. Other hospitals, such as Al Aqsa, in Deir al Bala, and Nasser, in Khan Younis, have reported fuel shortages and may soon stop operating,” it reads. The document.
“CRITICAL SITUATION” IN SUCH TO THE SULTAN
“Today, May 28, the situation in Tal Al Sultan is very critical. (…) We could not sleep all night (thank God anyway). All night we heard the clashes, shelling and noise from the shells. Nobody knows what exactly is happening. There are clashes in two different places in the Tal Al Sultan area, in the north and in the south,” explained MSF doctor Safa Jaber, who works as a gynecologist in Tal al Sultan. Sultan.
Furthermore, he has assured that “he cannot describe what is happening,” and that fear for his family has made him move to another shelter in a “safe area” with other people.
“I am with the rest of my family – about 15 people – who are taking refuge here. The situation is very difficult. My sister just gave birth and has a newborn baby. Everyone is terrified. Where should we go “We are heading to the so-called ‘safe zone’. But there is no safe zone here after what happened the day before yesterday with the burning of stores. We make the effort to go to the safe spaces that are advertised, and in the end they are not safe.” has added.
