Koç University organized a symposium on the occasion of Nursing Week with the main theme “Our nurses. Our future. Improving the health and well-being of nurses strengthens economies.”

The opening speeches of the symposium were made by Koç University Faculty of Nursing Dean Prof. Dr. Duygu Gözen, Koç University Hospital Nursing Services Manager Şahika Mert, Vehbi Koç Foundation (VKV) Health Institutions Chief Executive (CEO) Erhan Bulutcu and Koç University Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Barış Ata did it.

In line with European Union standards, increasing clinical education opportunities for students and receiving quality, simulation and artificial intelligence-enriched clinical education before graduation is very important in terms of increasing confidence in the nursing profession.” he said.

Noting that nursing education plays a critical role in improving, protecting and sustaining public health, Gözen said, “We continue to work hard to ensure that our colleagues receive qualified education through measures such as updating the curricula in line with international developments and providing more clinical practice opportunities to our students in maintaining the standards in education.” made his evaluations.

Gözen pointed out that they provide nursing education to students in line with innovative teaching methods and emphasized that they benefit from the opportunities offered to students and faculty members in the use of technologies, artificial intelligence support and integration of sustainability principles into education.

Pointing out that the sustainability of Türkiye’s health system will be possible by investing in the health and welfare of health workers, especially nurses, Gözen said, “Improving the quality of life of nurses not only means that they receive the value they deserve, but also means that millions of people around the world have access to better health services and the development of public health.” he said.

Gözen stated that every nurse is not only a healthcare worker, but also a source of hope and recovery, and added:

“It is reported by the World Health Organization that the need for an increase in the number of nurses with quality training will grow in the future. In every corner of Türkiye and the world, each nurse will continue to exist to protect and improve human life. Together, with a strong voice, we will build the future of nursing. We will work harder to ensure that our nurses’ voices are heard, their rights are protected, and most importantly, they receive the scientific and clinical education they deserve in order to increase their value and prestige.”
