The Government of Nuevo León launched a maximum alert for the arrival of Cyclone “Alberto” which is already in 70% of its formation.
By directly impacting Tamaulipas and Nuevo León, Governor Samuel García reported on the suspension of classes and coordination with companies to safeguard workers.
The state president said that the suspension of activities in educational establishments will begin from the afternoon shift on Wednesday and throughout Thursday, while the decision for Friday will depend on the behavior of the tropical storm.
“We ask the population to be on maximum alert. The logical thing is, don’t trust them, don’t go out if it’s not necessary and that’s why we are going to suspend classes and talk to companies.
Be very careful with rivers, with fords, with streams, these rains in two or three hours can cause something that we do not want, a tragedy“Garcia said.
The governor said that rains above 100 millimeters are expected, so it is estimated that the dams will increase their capacity. Regarding the Rodrigo Gómez “La Boca” dam, it will go from 37.5 to 52.7 percent capacity, and could even reach its maximum capacity at 99 percent.
In the case of Cerro Prieto, it would go from 5.1 to 9.9 percent of filling and El Cuchillo from 31.8 to 44.9 percent.
For his part, Juan Ignacio Barragán, director of Water and Drainage Services of Monterrey, urged the population to conserve water for household activities, as well as for human consumption.
The above, in the event of possible service cuts.
Erik Cavazos, director of Civil Protection of Nuevo León, reported that the agency will operate with all the necessary equipment, including the two helicopters and ground units.
The state official said that the operations will be coordinated with personnel from the Ministry of National Defense and crews from the Federal Electricity Commission.
