The Novo party sent a statement to research institutes across the country demanding that only former Deltan MP Dallagnol (Novo; photo) be included as a pre-candidate for mayor of Curitiba in October.
According to the document obtained from The antagonistthe party has made Deltan Dallagnol’s pre-candidacy official.
Impeached last May, Deltan lost his mandate under the Clean Record Law.
The Higher Electoral Court (TSE) understood that he had left the Public Prosecutor’s Office to avoid possible punishment.
However, the decision does not specify whether he will be barred from running for office for a period of eight years, which is also a matter of disagreement among experts.
Faced with this uncertainty, Novo has made Deltan’s pre-application official to see if it will be challenged.
If this were to happen, other names are ready to enter the dispute, such as the ex-MP’s wife, Fernanda Dallagnol, and councilors Amália Tortato and Indiara Barbosa.
The party has invested in Deltan political capital since its affiliation in September, to increase its membership and announce its pre-candidates. Since last year, the politician has been taking trips across the country.
In 2023 Novo lost the right to television space and access to public funds for failing to comply with the performance clause.
Since then the acronym has been maintained with the resources of the party fund from previous years, which had been invested in monetary funds. The internal expectation is that the municipal elections will contribute to the growth of the party.
