Nothing is difficult for us

Iraqi National Team (Timnas) striker, Mohanad Ali boasted ahead of facing Indonesia in 2026 World Cup Qualification Asia Zone . Ali emphasized that the Mesopotamian Lions – the nickname of the Iraqi National Team – are ready to roar in this match.

Iraq will meet the Indonesian and Vietnam national teams in two further matches in the 2026 World Cup Qualification Asia Zone. The Mesopotamian Lions first visited the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta on Thursday (6/6/2024).

Then, they will host the Vietnam National Team at the Basra International Stadium, Basra, Iraq on Wednesday (12/6/2024). These two matches will provide momentum for Iraq to continue its positive trend.

In the previous four matches in Group F, the Iraqi National Team was undefeated so they could lock their ticket to the third round. Because of this, Ali boasted that the upcoming match would not be a burden for the Iraqi national team.

“There is nothing difficult in football and we, the players, will give everything to make the fans happy in the match (against Indonesia),” said Ali, quoted from Win Win, Monday (27/5/2024).

Mohanad Ali himself scored one goal when the Indonesian National Team was crushed by Iraq (1-3) in the 2023 Asian Cup. The 23 year old player will now face the Garuda Squad again in the near future.

“Representing Iraq, whether in the first team or the Olympic team (U-23), is an honor for every player,” said Ali.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian National Team itself only needs one more win to qualify for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asian Zone. Shin Tae-yong’s troops certainly have to make good use of this opportunity.
