Not to make Armenia a means for Tikhanovskaya – 2024-06-22 14:50:42

I thanked Armenia for its firm position against Lukashenko’s regime. This thought was expressed by Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who is considered the leader of the opposition in Belarus, was expelled to the West after the 2020 Belarusian presidential election and is seen as a symbol of the position against Lukashenko in the West. And he expressed his opinion after receiving the reception of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in Vilnius, where Mirzoyan visited on a working visit. Mirzoyan’s move to accept Tikhanovskaya is undoubtedly due to Lukashenko’s well-known statements that he makes against Yerevan.

Yerevan responds to Lukashenko through Tikhanovskaya. Of course, it is a question in itself how much it is a problem for Lukashenko, even in the emotional field, because it seems difficult to imagine this problem from a political point of view. Nevertheless, Yerevan’s political decision is understandable. Something else is unclear, in particular, what Tikhanovskaya says after the meeting with the Armenian Foreign Minister. He attributes to Armenia “a firm position against Lukashenko’s regime”. In this way, the phrase “Lukashenko’s regime” and the political assessment indirectly extends to Yerevan as well, therefore it defines the political responsibility of that definition for Yerevan.

Meanwhile, Armenia is a member of units, for example EAEU, of which Belarus is also a member, therefore its scope implies Armenia’s work with Belarus to some extent. The fact that there is political tension and opposition is one thing, but when expressions like “Lukashenko’s regime” are also “associated”, this is already a completely different thing, this already implies a completely different behavior, practically excluding the “regime”. any prospects for work with? Therefore, the question arises: did Ararat Mirzoyan, who received Tikhanovskaya, agree with her on the aspects and “markers” of future messages?

This is important so that the Republic of Armenia, expressing its political positions, does not become a means of satisfying Svetlana Tikhanovskaya’s political or even personal problems. Especially when months ago there was a precedent with the Speaker of the National Assembly, when Tikhanovskaya’s office issued a message regarding the so-called “corridor conversation” within the framework of one of the international events, attributing assurances to the Speaker of the National Assembly that are beyond the powers of the Armenian Parliament and its Speaker.
