“The investigative activities currently being carried out by friends in Semarang are not in any political context,” Tessa told reporters, Friday (19/7/2024).
It is known that the investigation took place ahead of the regional head elections (pilkada). Semarang City is also one of the regions that will look for its new leader.
Tessa ensured that the investigation at the KPK was based on sufficient evidence and with the issuance of an investigation warrant (sprindik). She also emphasized that the investigation was not related to political issues.
“If there are parties who feel that this is related to political interests, we from the Corruption Eradication Committee state that there is absolutely nothing to it,” he explained.
“If the activity in question is related to or coincides with what is reported as the regional head election, it is only a coincidence and does not look at it from a political perspective, so it is solely based on the legal framework,” he continued.
It should be noted that there is news circulating that Semarang Mayor Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu has been named a suspect. However, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has not officially revealed the suspect in the case.
When confirmed about the news, Spokesperson Tessa Mahardika Sugiarto did not respond. Previously, he was also still keeping the suspect’s identity under wraps.
“The investigation process is currently ongoing, the name and initials of the suspect have not been announced at this time,” said Tessa Mahardhika in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
