Nostalgia Shows Renew Programming

Hespress electronic newspaper learned from a special source that the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication intends to schedule new dates for the “Nostalgia-Yesterday’s Emotion” program in a group of cities in the Kingdom, as part of introducing the history of their archaeological sites.

The same source pointed out that the Ministry will soon announce the new dates expected for the shows at the Chellah archaeological site and a group of Moroccan monuments, after the very large attendance and significant demand that it witnessed through the official website for booking appointments in advance, and at the ticket windows at the place, which were completely sold out.

Theatrical director Amin Nassour, who supervised the production of these shows, said in a statement to Hespress that this huge project “is one of the major projects of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication – Culture Sector, under the personal supervision of the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mehdi Bensaid,” noting that the latter is the one who came up with the idea for the project, which falls within the framework of restoring the status of Moroccan historical monuments.

Nasour believes that this project “restores the historical monuments and at the same time introduces the visitor and the national youth in the first place, and also the tourists who flock to these cities and monuments, to the history and civilization of the Kingdom of Morocco, or part of this history,” noting that “the conclusion of the shows is always by addressing the Alawite civilization that is still extending in history and in place.”

The source explained to Hespress that this new project “is also an important job opportunity for a group of professionals, including artists, technicians, and professionals in arts-related professions,” adding that more than 350 workers are working in each project.

The “Nostalgia” shows constitute a cultural event that includes theatrical and artistic performances that aim to introduce the civilizations that inhabited Moroccan archaeological sites over the past centuries, and provide an enjoyable journey into the depths of Moroccan history to explore the cultural heritage that Morocco abounds with and restore its prestige.

It is noteworthy that the first session of the “Nostalgia-Yesterday’s Emotion” program was organized last July at the Chellah archaeological site, and was attended by about 20 thousand people. It included artistic performances that simulated the civilizations that inhabited this site during the past centuries.

The programme then visited a number of Moroccan archaeological sites, including Bahia Palace and El Badi Palace in Marrakech, the Uta el Hammam Square, the Kasbah’s archaeological spaces, the open-air theatre in Chefchaouen, and the Cave of Hercules west of Tangier.
