Northern Front: Elimination of a senior Hezbollah commander in Lebanon

A senior Hezbollah commander was killed Monday in a drone attack on his vehicle in the town of Hirbat Salem, about 10 km from the Israel-Lebanon border, according to Lebanese media. Other sources indicate that he was killed by a bomb placed on his vehicle. The man is Wissam al-Tawil, who led the Radwan Force, Hezbollah’s elite unit, in southern Lebanon. Syrian media reports that he was the brother-in-law of Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Shiite terrorist organization. He notably oversaw the firing of rockets into an Israeli military base in Meiron on Saturday, which caused damage to the Air Force’s air control base’s detection capabilities. Hezbollah called this attack a “first response” following Israel’s assassination of Saleh Al-Arouri in Lebanon ten days ago.

Earlier in the day, the IDF reported strikes against Hezbollah military infrastructure and sites in response to an anti-tank missile attack, but without mentioning this drone attack. To date, Hezbollah has lost approximately 150 members since the outbreak of hostilities with Israel the day after October 7.

In an interview published Monday morning in the Wall Street Journal, the Israeli Defense Minister reiterated that, even if Israel does not want war with Hezbollah, it is determined to do everything to “allow the 18,000 Israelis living in the region to return home “. Yoav Gallant then stressed that if no agreement was reached on a political solution, Israel would not hesitate to take military action. “We are ready to make sacrifices. Hezbollah sees what is happening in Gaza and should know that we are ready to replicate these operations in Beirut,” he said.
