After Friday prayers, thousands of Moroccans demonstrated in several cities to denounce the continuation of the Israeli war against the Gaza Strip, under the slogan “No to the displacement of Palestinians”.
The Anadolu correspondent reported that participants in the demonstrations organized by the Moroccan Association of Support for the Causes of the Ummah (a non-governmental organization) praised South Africa, which filed a lawsuit against Israel at the International Court accusing it of committing ” genocide” against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The cities hosting these events include Rabat, Nador, Casablanca, Meknes (north), Ait Melloul (centre) and El Jadida (west).
Protesters carried banners supporting the resistance and tenacity of the Palestinian people, chanting slogans rejecting the displacement of Palestinians from their lands.
This is the 14th consecutive Friday that the Association has organized these demonstrations, since the outbreak of Israel’s war against the Gaza Strip on 7 October 2023.
Many Moroccan cities, including Rabat, experience almost daily demonstrations of solidarity with the Palestinian people to demand an end to Israeli raids on Gaza, an end to the siege and the delivery of aid.
The Israeli army has been waging a devastating war against Gaza since October 7, 2023, which, as of Friday, has left 23,708 dead and 60,050 injured, most of them children and women, destroyed much of the infrastructure and caused a humanitarian disaster without precedents”. catastrophe”, according to the authorities of the Gaza Strip and the United Nations.
The International Court of Justice in The Hague, the highest legal body affiliated to the United Nations, met on Thursday and Friday to examine the appeal brought by the Republic of South Africa against Israel, accused of having committed genocide during the war it is fighting against Gaza Strip.
Israel has rejected the charge of “genocide” against the Palestinians and said that what is happening in the Gaza Strip is “self-defense”.
On December 29, South Africa turned to the International Court of Justice, accusing Israel of having committed “crimes of genocide” against the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip, subjected for more than three months to a devastating war that has caused tens of thousands of victims and caused an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.
