No catheters or IVs in your body

SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- The evolution of the Cuban girl Amanda Lemus Ortiz has been favorable, after undergoing a liver transplant in Spain.

As time progresses, Amanda shows obvious improvement that contrasts with her initial situation when she arrived in Spain.

The activist Yamilka Laffita, known on social networks as Lara Crofs, showed in a photo a piece of news that Cubans have celebrated: Amanda does not have catheters or IVs in her body and is recovering without them.

“Amanda laughs. Since yesterday the girl has nothing that hurts or hurts that little body. Without catheter, without IVs, just life,” the activist wrote on social networks.

Recently Lafita had shown a video of the girl, in which the little girl was seen lying on her bed, and animated, while watching the television.

Now, with a smile, from his hospital stretcher, he shows that he is progressing favorably.

Amanda Lemus, who underwent a liver transplant on March 15, was later taken to the operating room to perform other procedures because the condition in which she arrived from Cuba was critical.

She underwent surgery to place a catheter with drainage and stent in the bile duct, as it was dilating.

Amanda was in danger in Cuba

The doctors’ explanation suggests that the dilation of the duct is due to the amount of antibiotic given to the little girl, due to resistant bacteria that she contracted while in Cuba.

Amanda’s first operation at the La Paz hospital in Madrid took place on Friday, March 15, after a long wait and multiple efforts by her mother and Cuban activists to save her life.

Diagnosed with bile duct atresia, Amanda had been waiting for a liver transplant in Cuba for more than a year. Her life has been marked by long hospital stays. The liver for the transplant was provided by her father, Manuel Lemus.
