In a joint operation between Armed Forces and Security, nine members of the Jalisco Nueva Generación poster in Michoacán, west of Mexico, related to homicides, extortion and other crimes, arrested judicial sources.
This was the result after an armed confrontation in the Michoacan town of Huitzontla that left 12 aggressors and three injured Mexican navy agents.
The operation was headed by the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), in coordination with the Ministry of Citizen Security and Protection (SSPC), the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Guard (GN), the National Intelligence Center (CNI) and the Civil Guard of Michoacán, said the Security Cabinet of the Mexican Government.
The device was carried out within the framework of the National Security Strategy and was carried out in a mining area of difficult access, identified as a point of high criminal activity due to its proximity to the borders of the states of Michoacán, Jalisco and Colima.
According to the information of the security cabinet, the detainees are part of an armed arm composed of Colombian Mexicans and former military that operate under the orders of the New Generation Jalisco poster (CJNG).
These individuals are allegedly related to crimes such as extortion, homicide, illegal deprivation of liberty and recruitment for criminal activities.
The operation was the result of citizen complaints that alerted about the presence of armed men in the region, which, according to intelligence reports, were trained in the use of high caliber and explosive weapons.
After verifying this information, the security forces located the camp, where they found armament and tactical equipment, triggering a violent confrontation.
The aggressors responded with firearms for exclusive use of the Armed Forces, forcing the Navy elements to repel the attack in adherence to the force use protocols established in current regulations.
In a message on social networks, the head of the SSPC, Omar García Harfuch, offered recognition to the armed and security forces that risked their lives in said operation.
“Our recognition to the staff of the Secretariat of the Navy who risked their lives in this operation,” he said.
The authorities reported that the detainees, as well as the insured tactical armament and equipment, were made available to the Public Ministry for the integration of the corresponding investigation folders.
