Nicole Vergara, new press chief of President Boric

The resignation of Tatiana Klima was announced and the journalist who worked with the president when he was a legislator and was head of communications for the Ministry of Sports during the Santiago 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games takes over.

Santiago. 27/12/2023. President Gabriel Boric appointed Nicole Vergara Domínguez as his new director of communications for the Presidency, who will assume her duties as of January 2, 2024.

She was Boric’s press officer when he was a deputy and was head of communications for the Ministry of Sports during the Santiago 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games. She was a member of the presidential team and enjoys the president’s trust.

Journalist Tatiana Klima announced her resignation as President Boric’s press chief, a responsibility she had during the second round of elections and as President-Elect. “These two years in the Government have represented a great challenge professionally, work that always had the objective of collaborating in the implementation of a transformative project that aims to seek greater equality and justice for Chile, a program that I supported from the presidential campaign,” said Klima.

She thanked “the support of the President and my team throughout this time,” and stated that “the new cycle that begins in 2024 requires renewing and strengthening our leadership in all spaces.” “I take this opportunity to thank the atmosphere of collaboration and professionalism that the accredited press in La Moneda always had,” she said.

The president’s new press chief is a journalist and has a degree in Social Communication from the University of Chile and a master’s degree in Sociology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She was Director of Communications at the Espacio Público Studies Center. She also worked as a journalist in the Secretary of Communications of the second government of former President Michelle Bachelet, on Channel 13 and at the Teatro a Mil Foundation.
