Nicaragua breaks diplomatic relations with Ecuador due to assault on the Mexican Embassy

MEXICO CITY (process.com.mx).– The government of Nicaragua announced this Saturday the breaking of diplomatic relations with the government of Ecuador due to the “unusual and reprehensible” police raid on the Mexican Embassy in Quito.

In a statement, the government of Daniel Ortega expressed its “absolute rejection and condemnation of the neo-fascist political barbarism of the government of Ecuador.”

“We condemn and reject this flagrant violation of International Law that we see repeated by corrupt and servile rulers to the empires, which unfortunately occupy institutional positions in that brother country,” the statement says.

According to Nicaragua, the previous government of Ecuador was complicit in the assault on its Embassy in London to “violently and illegally” extract Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks who was taking refuge there and who is claimed by the United States government.

And now, in the face of the invasion of the Mexican Embassy in Quito, “our forceful, emphatic and irrevocable rejection, which we convert into our sovereign decision to break all diplomatic relations with the Ecuadorian government.”

It also expresses “our warm and consistent consideration to the beloved Ecuadorian people, who live in times of inconceivable brutality.”

The government of Nicaragua recalled that since September 1, 2020, it withdrew its Embassy from Quito, although in this statement it formalized the severing of all diplomatic relations.

He also offers his support for any legal action taken by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
