Brazilian star Neymarclosed the season with a flourish, with his consecration as best player in the French Championship of the 2017-2018 season, this Sunday (13)during an awards party organized by the players union (UNFP).
Despite not playing in the final part of the competition due to an injury to his right foot, the Paris Saint-Germain striker outperformed club mates Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappé, as well as Olympique Marseille’s Florian Thauvin.
“I thank my teammates, my entire club. I’m very excited, very happy for our season. I thank my family, my friends, I simply want to say that I am very happy and grateful. Without my companions I would not have received this award”, he indicated.
“I congratulate Kylian, Cavani and Thauvin on the season. It was really a great season. Thank you everyone,” she added.
In 20 Ligue 1 games, Neymar scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists, contributing to the capital team’s title.
Coach Unai Emery was voted best coach, after the Ligue 1, French Cup and League Cup titles. Still, the Spaniard will not continue in the role next season.
Mbappé won the title of best young player of the season for the second year in a row. The best goalkeeper was Steve Madanda, from Olympique de Marseille, while the best Frenchman playing abroad was N’Golo Kanté, from Chelsea.
The most beautiful goal of the season was scored by Brazilian Malcom, who plays for Bordeaux.
The championship’s ideal team is full of Brazilians, with Daniel Alves, Marquinhos and Thiago Silva (PSG), Luiz Gustavo (Olympique de Marseille) and Neymar. Cavani forms the attacking duo alongside the number 10.
