American businessmen found their way to Europe. In recent years they have taken over or invested in dozens of clubs across Europe. Their impact is also increasing in Belgium. The next club is on the way.
Liège in the hands of the Americans?
Second division club RFC Liège announces that negotiations are underway with American investors. There will be more clarity on this soon.
“Following the press articles published today, RFC Liège confirms that negotiations have taken place in recent months with American investors who wanted to strengthen the club’s resources, with the aim of ensuring its growth while maintaining its roots in Liège. In the coming days the club will communicate more details,” Liège said.
Like Standard & co?
In the Jupiler Pro League, Standard and RWDM are already in American hands and Club Brugge has American investors. Sporting Charleroi also teamed up with an American. RFC Liège could therefore become the next Belgian club.
