With a serious security situation on the Copacabana seafront, the military police made a combing through gritted teeth for anyone trying to reach the beach. All types of material considered sharp were seized. In addition to the scissors, many were stopped with a glass bottle of sparkling wine and a razor was also seized. Even those who took the turkey without cutting it were in trouble: no knife of any kind was allowed. In the heavens and on earth, facial recognition cameras searched for fugitives from justice. A man was arrested because he had an open arrest warrant.

The seller exchanged the sparkling wine for beer
Street vendor Humberto Siqueira was ready to sell beers and other alcoholic drinks on New Year’s Eve in Copacabana. Plans changed when he realized that banning glass bottles might be more profitable. He invested in the sale of 1.5 liter water bottles.
-I also managed to get some Salton sparkling wine. I exchanged it for two cans of beer, which I took to sell. People are desperate. I even saw one throwing the whiskey away. That’s when the idea came to me. I already bought water nearby. I sold 15 packs of six bottles each. It was the best move: he celebrated.
Others made money by selling plastic cups. To avoid having to dispose of drinks in glass bottles, some have purchased eco-friendly glasses, some even equipped with LEDs, to be able to browse the magazine.
Facial recognition
On New Year’s Eve, the Military Police arrested Fabio Cardozo Bansemer, accused of attempted qualified homicide and on the run since March. Police officers from the 19th BPM (Copacabana) approached him after being identified by the facial recognition system, at one of the checkpoints accessing the Copacabana neighborhood, on Rua Miguel Lemos and Avenida Atlântica. He was taken to the 13th DP (Ipanema).
Fabio Cardozo is accused of attempted murder with double qualification. The victim reported that he was returning to work from the newsstand when he came across a group of people who started attacking him. The victim stated in testimony that she fell to the ground and passed out.
The victim told the court that Fábio was one of those who attacked him. A witness said he saw the victim beaten by two people and that the attackers only stopped when a taxi driver entered the street and turned on his headlights.
