The peace negotiations between Cambodia and Thailand will begin shortly in Malaysia with American assistance, the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, declared this Sunday.
«Cambodia and Thailand are scheduled to initiate a short level conversations in Malaysia in the hope of achieving immediate fire. State department officials are on the ground in Malaysia to contribute to these peace efforts, ”he published in his X account.
Rubio indicated that both he and President Donald Trump are in contact with their “respective homologists of each country” and closely follow the situation. “We want this conflict to end as soon as possible,” he said.
Previously, Camboyano Prime Minister Hun Manet announced that both Nom Pen and Bangkok agreed to declare a high immediate fire.
On Saturday, Trump said he spoke with the leaders of the two nations and said they both want “a high immediate fire and peace.” In addition, he warned the two countries that they will not have commercial agreements with Washington if they do not stop their border dispute.
