New thermal power plants will be built without funds from the Unified Pension Fund

First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar, speaking to deputies during a parliamentary meeting, discussed plans for the construction of new thermal power plants, Liter.kz reports with reference to site Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Sklyar noted that the total installed capacity of all energy sources in the country reaches 21 thousand megawatts, but the actual available capacity is slightly lower – about 16 thousand megawatts.

“Due to high peak loads, Kazakhstan is forced to import about two thousand megawatts of electricity, so the construction of new energy sources is urgently required,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

According to him, agreements were signed on the construction of three thermal power plants in the cities of Kokshetau, Semey and Ust-Kamenogorsk, as well as on the construction of a third power unit at State District Power Plant-2.

Financing of these projects will be carried out through preferential export financing from the country producing this energy equipment.

“The use of funds from the Unified National Pension Fund (UNPF) for these purposes was not planned and is not planned,” Sklyar assured.
