The new Secretary for Creative Industries of the Ministry of Culture, João Pedro da Cunha Lourenço, in December, by the President of the Republic, declared to Notícias de Angola that his biggest challenge for 2020 is to improve indicators in economic terms in the area of culture.
The person in charge highlighted that his appointment is a responsibility that the country gives him, to put into practice everything he knows, and do more so that culture is not seen just as a sector that has expenses.
“It is a responsibility that the country gives us, and we will try to put into practice what we know. We have to do more so that culture is not seen as a sector that has expenses and that is not quite the case. One of our challenges is to improve indicators in economic terms”.
João Pedro da Cunha Lourenço described that the main objective for this year is to ensure that artistic production is reflected in the country’s economic information, and in improving indicators in the area of culture.
Born in Luanda, he has a degree in Educational Sciences, History option, a Master’s degree in Contemporary History and is undertaking a PhD in History, Art and Territory.
He is a teacher and historian, he was a librarian for 23 years, he was director of the National Library and the Slavery Museum.
