The new Defense Attaché at the Angolan Embassy in Ethiopia, Brigadier Eduardo Avelino dos Santos Neto, took up his duties on Monday, the 17th of this month.
According to the statement that NA had access to today, at the event, the diplomat was introduced by the National Director of Defense Policy and International Relations of the Ministry of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland, Lieutenant General Luís Inácio Muxito.
Considering the appointment timely, the permanent representative to the African Union (AU), Miguel Bembe, explained that the new attaché reinforces the staff of the Angolan Diplomatic Mission in Addis Ababa, given the set of challenges facing Angola in the context of the expected election as a Member of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) in the African organization for the 2024/2025 biennium.
Therefore, at a time when references are increasing about the country’s potential to boost the continental organization’s peace support forces and operations, the report highlights.
He added that the country demonstrates coherence in its political and diplomatic agenda, dedicated to peace and reconciliation on the continent, with international repercussions, by reiterating its willingness to collaborate and work towards achieving peaceful and collective solutions to the multidimensional concerns of the PSC.
Regarding Ethiopia, he stressed that it is a very important country, with enormous potential at a regional level due to its long experience in peace operations and because it has a diversified military industry.
