Netflix hires former Epic Games executive to boost its gaming division

MADRID, (Portaltic/EP) – Netflix will boost its video game division with Alain Tascan, former Epic Games executive and founder of the Montreal studios of Ubisoft and EA, who will bring his experience in the sector as president of the new company.

The tech firm entered the gaming sector in 2021, releasing its first mobile titles and announcing the acquisition of Night School Studio. Since then, it has added Boss Fight Entertainment, Next Games and Spry Fox, and established two in-house studios, one in California (United States) and the other in Helsinki (Finland).

At its second quarter earnings presentation, Netflix announced plans to add a new video game to Netflix Stories, the section where it brings together interactive games based on its series and movies, every month, starting in July.

He also announced the arrival of a multiplayer video game inspired by ‘The Squid Game’, which will arrive at the end of the year coinciding with the premiere of the second season of this Korean series.

To bolster the division, Netflix has added Alain Tascan, who was executive vice president of video game development at Epic Games, to its team, as reported by Variety. In his new role as president of games, Tascan will report directly to the streaming firm’s co-CEO, Greg Peters.

Tascan previously oversaw games including Fortnite, Lego Fortnite, Rocket League and Fall Guys, and founded the Montreal, Canada, studios of Ubisoft and Electronic Arts.
