Neßler/Greens welcomes the return of the Michelin Guide to Austria: Can prevent the emigration of top chefs – 2024-02-16 12:18:00

Further development of Austria as a gourmet and culinary destination and strengthening of sustainable gastronomy through the Michelin Green Star

Vienna (OTS) “In October, we in the Tourism Committee were able to initiate the return of the Michelin Guide with a unanimous decision. Now the time has come and I welcome the fact that Austria is increasingly being given international prominence as a gourmet and culinary destination and that this is leading to the strengthening of a high-quality tourism location. In addition, the reintroduction can also prevent the emigration of top chefs and thus counteract the staff shortage,” says Barbara Neßler, tourism spokeswoman for the Green Party, on the return of the Michelin Guide to Austria.

“With the green Michelin star, which was launched in 2020, sustainable gastronomy is also increasingly highlighted. Regional products with short transport routes, seasonality and the conscious use of resources – these are the aspects that more and more restaurateurs in Austria are devoting themselves to. The combination of culinary experience paired with environmental awareness is also being sought by more and more consumers and with the Green Michelin Star, these businesses will become even more visible in the future and this will also create an incentive for other businesses,” Neßler concludes.
