A young man named Taijul Islam (30) has been accused of stabbing and injuring his wife for giving 10 taka more salami to nephews in Lalmonirhat’s Hatibandha.
The injured Taijul Islam was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment on Saturday (April 13) afternoon.
Earlier on Thursday (April 11), the incident took place in Chouputi Battala area of Naodabas Union of the upazila on Eid day.
Injured Taijul Islam is the son of Maqbul Hossain of Chowputi Battala area of Naodabas Union.
It has been found that Taijul Islam started giving Eid greetings to his nephews for 20 taka in the morning of Eid. Meanwhile, his wife Rasheda Begum (25) asked to pay 10 taka instead of 20 taka. An argument started between the husband and wife.
At one point, Rasheda Begum got angry and scolded her husband Taijul Islam. It cut Taijul below the neck.
Later the local people first admitted him to Hatibandha Upazila Health Complex and then to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
In this incident, Taijul Islam filed a written complaint against his wife at Hatibandha police station.
Rasheda Begum, Taijul’s wife, told Jago News, “When my husband tried to hit me with that knife, I stopped him. In this, that da falls below my husband’s neck. A wife cannot anger her husband like this. Da hits him on the back during the scuffle.
Taijul Islam’s younger brother Noor Islam told Jago News that the brother is receiving treatment in a cabin on the sixth floor of Rangpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
Hatibandhar Health Complex Medical Officer Anarul Islam said that the injured patient was given first aid. After that he was sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
In this regard, Hatibandha Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Nirmal Chandra Roy said, I have received the complaint. Legal action will be taken after investigation.
