Künsberg Sarre: “We can only achieve educational goals if we improve the entire educational path from early childhood onwards.”
Vienna (OTS) – “Every child should learn to read, write and count as the basis for a successful educational and professional career and a self-determined life. “The FPÖ’s ideas do not bring us any closer to this goal, but rather only further exacerbate the problems we have in our education system,” says NEOS education spokeswoman Martina Künsberg Sarre. “Instead of less education, we need more – for all children, regardless of where they come from. If the FPÖ wants to exclude children from school who do not yet know enough German, that is the opposite of integration and only pushes the intended educational goals further into the distance. We can only achieve these educational goals if we improve the entire educational path from early childhood onwards.”
The NEOS concepts for this have long been on the table, emphasizes Künsberg Sarre: “So that every child can be noticed and supported individually from the start, more staff and smaller groups are needed in the kindergarten. Schools urgently need more autonomy and less bureaucracy so that teachers can concentrate on their work with children again. And we need many more specialists from the areas of social work, psychology and learning coaching to support and accompany them in this.” What must now be done is to quickly implement these constructive solutions, says Künsberg Sarre. “The goal must be for the school to become a place where both students and teachers enjoy going. But we will achieve this goal neither through cheap FPÖ populism nor through the Education Minister’s unwillingness to reform.”
