Shots are being fired from both sides about the Tempe train tragedy by the government representative and deputy minister alongside Prime Minister Pavlos Marinakis and SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance.
Speaking to ERT, Pavlos Marinakis about the statements of the managing director of OSE Panagiotis Terezakis commented that “because I saw the title and listened to the interview, I think there is a discrepancy between what emerges from an interview and what Mr. Terezakis says, who makes various assumptions about what might have happened, but says that nothing specifically happened in the Justice and excludes in any case what we have excluded all this time”.
He also emphasized that “I think it is one of the most characteristic issues of falsification of reality and above all to confuse the world. Here we are talking about an issue which is a non-issue as far as the essence of the Tempe issue is concerned. We talk about human error, to get along. We are talking about a set of conversations. I will say it one more time, because it is very important not to lose the bottom line: If there is a leak issue, let the justice investigate it, and it investigates it, that is another matter. But here we have 15 conversations. These conversations were made public and one of them that day seems to have gone wrong.”
According to Pavlos Marinakis, “the next day all the sites, the public television, also took out the conversation correctly. All the other conversations and this one advocated human error, this one was about another train after all. Said, explained. On the same day, the confession of the fatal station master came out. Everything was clean. There was no one to question. Even the staunchest opponents of the government, of the OSE, of what happened, never questioned human error. And he’s had an issue open for about a month now, which is going nowhere. Was there any reason for anyone, whoever they are, to falsify something to manipulate public opinion about something that was settled?”
Attacking the president of SYRIZA – PS Stefanos Kasselakis, the government representative claimed that “Mr. Kasselakis behaves as an influencer, he takes different things piecemeal and adopts them. It has now reached the point where it has the exact same rhetoric as the parties that peddled conspiracy theories”, adding that “any Kasselakis, nor Marinakis, nor anyone can slander anyone else because they want to represent the revolutionary with conspiracy theories”.
SYRIZA: Pavlos Marinakis described the crime of Tempi as a “non-issue”
In response, SYRIZA – PS underlined that “the toxic government representative is once again resorting to his well-known tactics today: attack is the best defense. So, for the umpteenth time, he dares to describe the crime of Tempe as a “non-issue”. We didn’t hear today about “leeches” (this is his description of the opposition that supports the relatives’ demand for Justice) but about… influencers! Probably the proposals of SYRIZA – PS have not even reached his hands. Logical, since they make sure that Maximos diligently hides them.”
He then addressed the three questions to Pavlos Marinakis, asking him “if he knows the following”.
“Firstly, does the government care or not to find out who edited conversations, that is, altered the material after an accident that claimed the lives of 57 people? Does he consider it a “non-issue” even after the statements of the CEO of OSE, Mr. Terezakis, on radio SKAI?
Second, what conversation did Mr. Mitsotakis have in mind on March 1, 2023, when he made the statement a few hours after the accident that it was “solely due to human error.” The one that was given to the media on the same day (i.e. the edited one) or the ones that were broadcast in the following days and that he is citing today?
“Thirdly, since yesterday morning when the article by the president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, was published in Kathimerini, we have not received an answer to a basic question, while we have heard a lot from Mitsotakis – Marinakis.”
Subsequently, SYRIZA – PS brought back, as it says, the question raised by Stefanos Kasselakis.
“In his interview with Stavros Theodorakis on Alpha on March 22, 2023, Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated: “We know for sure what the commercial train was carrying. There was nothing flammable. There was nothing suspicious on the commercial train.” Can Kyriakos Mitsotakis repeat the same statement today, a year later, or does he know he was lying? We challenge him to do it!”, said SYRIZA – PS.
