NCT’s Taeil Removed from Group Due to Allegations of Sexual Assault

JAKARTA – NCT’s Taeil is currently a hot topic of conversation among netizens following the news of sexual violence allegedly committed by him. As a result of this issue, SM Entertainment as the agency that houses Taeil, immediately took firm steps by removing him from NCT.

SM Entertainment announced this through an official broadcast uploaded to their social media accounts on Wednesday (28/8/2024).

According to SM, the decision to remove Taeil from the group was made after discussions with the idol. Here is the official statement from SM Entertainment regarding Taeil’s current status.

“This is SM Entertainment.

We recently learned that Taeil has been accused in a criminal case related to sexual assault.

As we assessed the facts regarding this matter, we realized the severity of the situation and decided that Taeil could no longer continue his activities with the team (NCT). After discussing with Taeil, we decided to leave the group.

Taeil is currently fully cooperating with the police investigation. We will provide further statements as the investigation progresses.

We deeply apologize for the worry and distress caused to our artist.”

Taeil, whose full name is Moon Tae-il, is an NCT member who has been active since the group debuted in April 2016. He initially debuted with the unit NCT U.

Taeil then joined the sub-unit NCT 127. With NCT 127, he has produced six studio albums, seven mini albums, and dozens of singles.

Taeil has also released solo singles and provided soundtracks (OSTs) for several popular Korean dramas.
