The NBA season is over and throughout the year we had a number of surprises; some good, some bad, but in the end it was a good season. It was full of great moments that will stay with us and we saw the quality of many players who were relatively new or others who we already knew were skilled but only shone at times. Even though it has not been one of the best seasons in NBA history, NBAif it was interesting and we can’t let it pass as if nothing, let’s talk a little about the most important facts about it.
- Which has been the best team of the season?
Without a doubt, the best and strongest team this season was the Boston Celtics. This team has been one of the most surprising teams of the entire 21st century; their average point differential is 11.3 points, their offensive rating is the highest in NBA history at 123.2 and their net ratio is 11.6, the fourth highest in NBA history. With 64 wins this year, they are without a doubt the strongest team today and it seems that they will continue to be for a long time. Not to mention the fact that they also won the championship this year.
- Which was the worst team of the season?
It’s never fun to define who was the worst team of the season, but unfortunately, the Detroit Pistons take that spot. They started off well, but after the third game they broke the record for the worst streak with 28 consecutive losses. It was to be expected that they would finish last in the standings with a net ratio of 5 and with a winning percentage so bad that it is the 12th worst in NBA history. Their record was 14-68, the worst season in the team’s history by far.
- Who was the MVP of the season?
Even though the Boston Celtics won everything and were the best team, the MVP is not part of them. Nikola Jokic, known as “The Joker”, the center of the Denver Nuggets, takes the award as the most valuable player of the year. The Serbian averaged 26.6 points, 12.4 rebounds and 9 assists per game and on top of that, his team averaged 20.1 points of net ratio more when he was on the court, which made him the most important player on the team; a very obvious thing.
- Who was the rookie of the season?
The debut of Frenchman Victor Wemby, known as “Wemby,” will go down as one of the best and most sensational debuts in NBA history. The 7-foot-4 giant averaged 21.4 points, 3.9 assists, 10.6 rebounds, 3.6 blocks and 1.2 steals per game; statistics that would be important for any team. On top of that, the San Antonio Spurs played worse whenever Wemby was out, which demonstrated the Frenchman’s enormous impact on the team. Did Wemby deserve the Rookie of the Year award? Of course he did, without a doubt.
