The National Police Chief’s direction was read by the Deputy Chief of Police, Komjen Agus Andrianto, in his welcoming speech to STIK-PTIK graduates on Thursday (20/6/2024).
“Being a professional investigator and avoiding deviant acts, prioritizing scientific crime investigation in disclosing cases, in disclosing cases, evidence must be brighter than light, brighter than light,” said Agus.
Agus then gave an example of proof of a case that was not supported by scientific crime investigation, namely the murder case of Vina and Eki in Cirebon in 2016. According to him, without scientific crime investigation methods, the case eight years ago became a polemic in the future.
“In the case of the murders of Vina and Eky, the initial evidence was not supported by scientific crime investigation. So the issue of negative perception arose, the defendant admitted that he was intimidated, the victim was wrongly arrested, and the removal of the two DPOs was considered unprofessional,” he said.
Meanwhile, a good example of the application of scientific crime investigation is the case of the murder of Doctor Mawartih in Papua which was successfully uncovered.
“In the disclosure of the murder case of Doctor Mawartih in Papua, based on scientific crime investigation, the perpetrator was identified using the results of testing DNA samples on evidence,” he said.
For this reason, the National Police Chief, in a message read by Agus, emphasized to all investigators not to rush in handling a case. In fact, if necessary, involve experts to make the investigation transparent and scientific.
“Avoid drawing conclusions about handling cases hastily, before all the complete evidence and facts are collected, which of course involves experts in the field,” he said.
