Apart from this, he has also served as the provincial finance minister during the tenure of former Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

Syed Murad Ali Shah is the son of former Sindh Chief Minister Syed Abdullah Ali Shah who himself was the Chief Minister of Sindh from 1993 to 1996. He was born in 1962 in Karachi.
