Ashmit worked with Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat in the 2004 superhit film ‘Murder’. Emraan and Mallika’s bold scenes in it were in the news. In an interview given to Siddharth Kannan, Ashmit said that Mallika was very intelligent and she had misunderstood herself with her statements and many things at that time.

Even when she came to talk to me, I did not talk much. I wanted to perform well in the film but she felt something else. I did not explain to her what the matter was nor did I tell Anurag Basu to tell Mallika that I am not talking much so that I can act well in the film.

Ashmit further told that after this there was a scene in the film where I had to strangle Mallika. I remember I asked Naseer sahab how to choke without choking anyone. He then told me how to do it in such a way that the expression would make it look like you are doing it, but in reality it did not happen. I did the same and after the cut Mallika made an issue after which Bhatt sahab said that you will have to apologize. But I said that I did not do anything. We will watch the monitor and if it seems that I have done it then I will apologize. We watched and that is what happened.

It was not my fault. Mallika did apologize, but no one else. It is noteworthy that Ashmit was in a relationship with actress Riya Sen and he was accused of leaking her MMS.
