Mullanpur: Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during the match against Punjab Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at Maharajas. Yadvinder Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur. The IPL released an official statement on Friday announcing that Pandya has been fined for breaching the IPL’s code of conduct, which deals with minimum over rate offences.
“Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Punjab Kings at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur on April 18. IPL Pandya was fined Rs 12 lakh, his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s minimum over-rate code of conduct, Pandya said in a statement. Star speedster Jasprit Bumrah (3/21 ) and impressive spells from Gerald Coetzee (3/32) as well as a brilliant inning of 78 runs from Suryakumar Yadav helped Mumbai Indians beat Punjab Kings by nine runs. Suryakumar Yadav’s 78 runs helped the visiting team MI managed to score 192/7, after which MI survived an unprecedented onslaught (61 runs from 28 balls).
