MU stars clearly expressed their views on the ambitious transfer plan to recruit Carlos Baleba.
MU players are doing their best to support the club’s pursuit of Carlos Baleba as they contact the Brighton midfielder about a move to Old Trafford. MU stars clearly expressed their views on the home team’s ambitious transfer plan.
A number of Manchester United players have contacted Brighton’s Carlos Baleba to convince him to move to Old Trafford when the summer transfer market will close on September 1.
Last week, the Red Devils expressed interest in defensive midfielder Baleba, who Brighton values at more than £100 million after a very good season in the Premier League. Baleba is the latest player to move to Brighton when he was still a relatively unknown name before becoming a phenomenon. Currently, MU is keen to recruit Baleba.
Baleba used to play with MU’s number 1 goalkeeper Andre Onana in the Cameroon team and was teammates with Leny Yoro in Lille. These two MU stars contacted Baleba to explain the current context and MU’s ambitions to convince Baleba to participate in the project at Old Trafford, according to Athletic newspaper (UK).
Baleba played in both of Brighton’s wins against MU last season and is one of the most impressive players in the defensive midfielder position in the Premier League. However, MU admitted that any agreement may be difficult to reach due to financial issues involved.
After spending more than 200 million pounds on recruiting rookies like Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko, MU’s remaining transfer budget is not much left. MU is not expected to submit an offer to buy Baleba unless they believe there is a chance of success. Therefore, MU is still continuing negotiations in an indirect way.
Brighton sold Joao Pedro to Chelsea for £60 million so they have no need to sell more players. Brighton also wants to retain their top talent, and the price they set for Baleba could make MU desperate to complete the deal. The last time the south coast team sold a player of Baleba’s caliber was Moises Caicedo, who joined Chelsea for 115 million pounds.
Cameroonian player Baleba himself does not show too much desire to leave Brighton at this time. Brighton chief executive Paul Barber recently dismissed speculation about Baleba moving to Manchester United.
Brighton chief executive Paul Barber said recently: “We will always try to make sure we sell the best players at the right time, not just for the players but for us. If we do that with any player, the aim is for manager Fabian to have a competitive squad, no matter what happens.
We don’t want to sell our best players. Carlos Baleba is a great talent who has many years ahead of him. We hope he will stay here for many years to come. But this, as usual, depends on developments in the football world, which cannot always be predicted.”
