MTC: They seek to develop more port infrastructure

The head of the MTC pointed out that the regions should take advantage of the port of Chancay and its connection with Asia

The Minister of Transport and Communications, Raul Perez Reyes, He said more is needed infrastructure in the regions to facilitate the connection with Asia and take advantage of the imminent opening of the Chancay Multipurpose Port.

During a press conference held last week at the headquarters of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), to report on his trip to China, the minister highlighted the Government’s commitment to infrastructure construction. This measure will boost economic development, improve the country’s competitiveness and help reduce existing gaps.

He announced that they were presented in China Six ambitious railway projects which will require an investment of more than $31 billionThese projects will enable us to meet the growing mining and agricultural export load in the coming years.

These projects include trains Lima-Barranca, Lima-Ica, Puerto San Juan de Marcona-Andahuaylas, Lambayeque-Cajamarca, Trujillo-Barranca and Hydroelectric-Quillabamba.

«With these six projects, We will double and improve the country’s railway infrastructureincreasing from 1,953 kilometers to almost 3,900 kilometers. Our goal is to have a single company operate these projects for 40 years, ensuring their sustainability,” he said.

Within this set of investments, the most advanced railway projects are: Lima-Ica, with 281 kilometersand that of Port of San Juan de Marcona-Andahuaylas, with 561 kilometers.

The MTC announced that it is promoting a set of road and logistics infrastructure works in order to develop the Callao-Chancay logistics axis and improve its connectivity to the north, center and south of the country.

“Given the importance of this major project for the future of the country, We are promoting works from the ministry that will complement each other.will boost the operations of the port of Chancay and ensure the safety of residents in the area,” he said.

One of these initiatives is the construction of an overpass in the Pan American Highway north, specifically in the kilometer 79, with the objective of increase road safety.
