A teacher named Bayjid Hossain has been accused of taking leave from MPO-affiliated madrasa and working in another college in the name of training. He also withdrew the salary for five months in collaboration with the principal of that madrasa.
Bayjid Hossain is an appointed MPO teacher of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) subject at Alia Kamil Madrasa, Kurigram. He is working in Syedpur Cantonment Public School and College on leave.
The truth of these allegations was found after investigating the two institutions. On the website of Syedpur Cantonment Public School and College, information about the teacher’s working life has been found.
According to Madrasa sources, Bayjid Hossain was recommended in the fourth public notice of NTRCA and joined the post of ICT subject lecturer in Madrasa in October 2023. Later he joined the MPO. He has been absent from the madrasa since January. However, he is regularly withdrawing salary from the madrasa.
Ariful Islam Akash, a part-time ICT teacher of that madrasa, said, “I don’t know if there is any other teacher in this subject.” I have been taking regular classes since January 4 this year. At that time I did not see any other teacher of ICT subject.
Talking to several teachers, it is known that Bayjid Hossain is in contact with principal Noor Bakht and is working in two institutions at the same time. He is also withdrawing salary from two institutions. They don’t know how to get his signature on the attendance book and pay bill papers.
Madrasa Teacher Representative (TR) Majedul Islam said, ICT teacher Bayjid Hossain has not come to Madrasa for a long time. I heard he is in training. I don’t know what the training is.
Syedpur Cantonment Public School and College ICT Department Head Sarwarardi Alam said, Bayazid was a teacher of our school branch earlier. He resigned after getting a job in the madrasa. When offered to keep him, he expressed his desire to join the college as a lecturer. Later, five months ago, he was appointed as a lecturer. Even his wife was given a job. He is taking regular classes in college. We do not know whether he is still working in that madrasa.
When asked, accused lecturer Bayjid Hossain said, I have taken training leave till June 30 after talking to the principal. Where I am is not an MPO institution.
In response to the question of how legal it is to withdraw salary from both institutions after becoming an MPO teacher and being appointed to another college, Bayzid claimed that Alia had resigned from the madrasa on June 1. He is also ready to return the salary he withdrew.
Maulana Noor Bakht, principal of the madrasa, said that Bayezid is on training leave until June 30. After that, a decision will be taken if he does not join.
On the question of working in other institutions on leave in the name of training immediately after joining and drawing salary from both institutions, the principal said, there is no problem if you are not working in MPO-affiliated institutions.
Deputy Commissioner and President of Madrasa Governing Body Mohammad Saidul Arif said, it is a serious irregularity. After investigation, action will be taken as per rules.
