MP investigates irregularities in CIV contracts

He Public ministry (MP) reported that since the beginning of February an investigation was initiated regarding possible illegalities in the acquisition contracts of elevators and stairs electrical in the La Aurora International Airport (AILA) and jobs in the Palín-Escuintla highway.

This followed up on information that emerged publicly, which is why these files were opened ex officio, which are in charge of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

“In these cases, investigation proceedings have already been advanced. In that sense, the Minister of Communications presented a complaint, which is related to the events of the Palín – Escuintla toll, which was connected to the investigation that the prosecutor’s office is already developing,” explained the Department of Information and Press of the investigating entity. .

He added that proceedings have already been carried out within the framework of these investigations and related work continues to clarify the alleged anomalies.

Minister of Communications denounces breach of contracts

The Minister of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing, Jazmín de la Vega, confirmed last Wednesday, February 28, that complaints were filed related to irregularities in the management of works in charge of that portfolio, as well as non-compliance with contracts. Likewise, she stressed that corruption will not be tolerated in that institution.

He explained that a complaint was filed against the Smart Home Technologies company for non-compliance with the contract that was signed by the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics and the portfolio under its charge for the delivery of the stairs and elevators at the La Aurora International Airport.

He indicated that the aforementioned company was notified of the breach of the contract and the surety company was also notified so that the corresponding bond could be executed. At the same time, it is expected to deduce responsibilities on the officials who signed said contract, which will correspond to the Human Rights Ombudsman’s Office (PGN).

De la Vega indicated that the second complaint was filed against the company Moka SA, with which a contract was signed for the concession of the Palín – Escuintla route, which was designated to the company Marhnos SA; However, he explained that they intervened on a concession, which should not have been done, since Marhnos had not yet officially handed over the concession to the CIV nor had the contract reversal process been completed.
