Standard appointed a new manager with Ivan Leko during the winter break. He must do better than Carl Hoefkens, who managed to park the Rouches just two points from the relegation zone. But for this the Croatian will need reinforcements in some positions.
In recent days, however, it seemed that the players wanted to leave Liège. For example, there was no room for Isaac Hayden in the selection for the internship in Spain, which only fueled rumors that the English midfielder would leave after six months.
Newcastle suspend Hayden’s loan
It would have happened already. We are still waiting for official confirmation from the clubs, but Sudpress he knows that Newcastle United have effectively terminated his rental contract. The 28-year-old midfielder will return to England, where he will be based at another club. Hayden has played eleven times for Standard in recent months.
Leko therefore loses an option in midfield, but seems to get a very welcome reinforcement. The coach had made the new left-back the priority of the winter transfer market and now it seems to be arriving. The last hour knows that Standard is working on the arrival of Jaouen Hadjam.
Standard finds the left back in Ligue 1
The 20-year-old has been a former French youth international and Algerian international since March, but has barely featured for FC Nantes this season. This season he has managed to collect just 105 minutes of play in Ligue 1, spread across eight appearances as a substitute.
Hadjam could also leave Nantes and Standard wants to take advantage of it. Negotiations between the clubs are already underway and Standard is aiming for a loan with the right to buy. If that were the case, a large gap in the core would have been filled, because Standard had not had a left back since Barrett Laursen’s departure in the summer.
π¨π The @Standard_RSCL is interested in the young left π©πΏ of FC Nantes, Jaouen Hadjam. The latter has to leave the club π«π· while Ivan Leko has made the left back his priority in this transfer window. @lesssportsplus
