Veddriq put on an impressive performance when he defeated Wu Peng in the 2024 Paris Olympics rock climbing final. Competing at the Le Bourget Climbing Venue, Thursday (8/8/2024), the 27-year-old athlete was like Spiderman who was able to crawl at a speed of 4.75 seconds.

Veddriq was 0.02 seconds ahead of the Chinese athlete. Meanwhile, the bronze medal was taken home by Sam Watson, who broke his own world record from 4.75 seconds to 4.74 seconds.

Rosita admitted to being happy with her son’s success. According to her, Veddriq is known to be an ambitious child and has strong principles.

In fact, Veddriq continues to train hard even though his home area in Pontianak is covered in haze. “Since childhood, Veddriq has been a very persistent and firm child. If he says A, then it must be A,” said Rosita as reported by the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation (FPTI) release.

“And every day, even when there were forest fires in Kalimantan, he continued to train under the haze that filled the sky of Kalimantan,” he added.
