The creation of a Turkish-Russian bank is a topic of discussion between the departments of the two countries against the background of problems related to payment transfers caused by the pressure of US sanctions.
Publika.az a source in the banking sector of Turkey informed “RIA Novosti” about this.
Earlier, a source told the agency that a number of private banks in Turkey have closed the accounts of Russian companies, which is due to the unprecedented pressure of the United States on sanctions.
“The option of establishing a Turkish-Russian bank is being discussed and has been discussed before. This is one of the highlights. But for now, there is no concreteness about this issue,” said the interlocutor of the agency.
“Turkey’s Ministry of Trade has prepared a list of companies that have problems with payments from Russia, and measures are being taken in this regard,” Ekonomim newspaper wrote earlier, citing sources. The publication noted that Turkish exporters were faced with the refusal of banks to accept money transfers from Russia for the payment of goods, and operations were practically stopped on January 1.
